About Us
MY Background
I was born and raised in Melbourne and studied Hospitality management after completing High School.
I worked in various restaurants and commercial kitchens during the 1990's and for 18 months, I managed the kitchen at a small private Aged Care Facility.
An interest in healthy foods lead me to work in health and fitness and child nutrition. I spent 7 years cooking and teaching at a Montessori pre-school before changing my focus to Aged Care.
Growing up, my father served in the Australian Army. I also have 1st and 2nd war veterans on both sides of my family. This has given me an understanding of the challenges faced by Veterans and the processes of the Department of Veteran Affairs.
In my personal life, I have been a respite carer for children affected by drugs, alcohol and domestic violence. Through this, I have extensive knowledge of the processes of Centrelink and the Department of Human Services.
My lived experiences have prepared me with the knowledge and understanding needed to support seniors in their aging journey.
My role in Aged Care
As my Grandparents aged and required more care and support, I experienced how complex the Aged care system was and how difficult it was to navigate.
I saw a need for support and guidance for people looking for Aged Care services and in 2017, started my own Aged Care Placement service.
My business has evolved to include advocacy and consultancy and I am focused on supporting clients with dementia as well as socially disadvantaged seniors.
In 2019 I completed an online 'Understanding Dementia' course to help me support clients living with dementia.
I have a particular interest in the application of Montessori methods in dementia care.
I continue to educate myself in all aspects for Aged Care to ensure my knowledge remains current and up to date in an ever changing environment.
I am a proud member of the Association of Aged Service Professionals (AASP) and hold a voluntary position on the committee as Vice Chair.
I am passionate about my role in Aged Care and dedicated to helping seniors to find homes where they feel safe, happy and engaged.
