At Aged Care Advocate, I provide independent, honest, and compassionate support to help individuals and families navigate the aged care system with clarity and confidence.
I was born and raised in Melbourne and completed my studies in Hospitality Management after finishing high school.
During the 1990s, I worked in a range of restaurants and commercial kitchens, including spending 18 months managing the kitchen at a small private aged care facility. This early experience gave me valuable insight into the daily lives, needs, and care standards of older Australians.
My growing interest in healthy food and wellbeing later led me into the health and fitness sector, as well as child nutrition. I spent seven years cooking and teaching at a Montessori pre-school, an experience that deeply shaped my understanding of care, dignity, and individual needs across all stages of life.
I grew up in a military family. My father served in the Australian Army, with first and second-generation war veterans on both sides of my family. This background gave me a deep understanding of the challenges faced by veterans, along with practical knowledge of how the Department of Veterans’ Affairs works.
Outside of my professional life, I have also been a respite carer for children affected by drugs, alcohol, and domestic violence. Through this experience, I developed extensive knowledge of Centrelink and the Department of Human Services, as well as a strong appreciation for trauma-informed, compassionate care. These lived experiences shape everything I do today. They guide my approach to aged care with empathy, respect, and strong advocacy at its core.
I have a passion for improving the quality of life of those living in residential aged care through better access to mental health support.
Over time, my business has evolved to include advocacy and consultancy services, allowing me to support clients at different stages of their aged care journey. I have a strong focus on:
In 2019, I completed the “Understanding Dementia” course to further strengthen my ability to support clients living with dementia. I also have a particular interest in the application of Montessori methods in dementia care, which promote dignity, engagement, and independence.
Last year, I was honored to receive a scholarship to The Memory Bridge Annual training Retreat at the Tibetan-Mongolian Cultural Center in Bloomington Indiana. Memory Bridge aims to end loneliness and isolation for people living with dementia through meaningful connections, love and compassion. The experience has filled me with passion and direction to make positive change in the lives of those living with dementia.

As part of my training, I completed 120 hours of practical placement in an aged care home. This hands on experience provided me with a strong understanding of day to day care processes, professional standards, and the importance of person centred support. Working directly with residents allowed me to build meaningful connections, develop practical skills, and gain insight into the realities of aged care beyond theory.
This experience reinforced my commitment to supporting older people with dignity, empathy, and respect, and has given me the confidence to apply my knowledge in real world settings while adapting to the individual needs of each person in care.
I am committed to ongoing professional development and regularly update my knowledge to ensure I remain informed in an ever-changing aged care environment.
To be compassionate and understanding to the needs and desires of the individual and to act on their behalf to achieve the best outcome possible. In my role as a care advocate, I will act at all times with honesty, integrity and treat others with dignity and respect .
